Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu Denies Privatisation of Sub-Registrar Offices in Andhra Pradesh

AMARAVATI: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Monday dismissed reports alleging the privatisation of Sub-Registrar offices across the state. Clarifying the government's stance during a high-level review meeting at the Real Time Governance Society (RTGS) Centre in the State Secretariat, the Chief Minister affirmed that the newly proposed 'Registration Seva Kendras' (RSKs) are being established solely to streamline public services, not to hand operations over to private entities.

CM Naidu directed department officials to counter misinformation campaigns actively and explain the operational framework of these service centers to the public.

Registration Seva Kendras Modeled on Passport Services

Drawing a direct comparison to national utility infrastructure, Chief Minister Naidu explained that Registration Seva Kendras will operate similarly to Passport Seva Kendras, which significantly reduced processing times and public inconvenience:

• Service Efficiency: The RSKs are designed to simplify document submission and front-end processing while official verification and registration remain under state authority.
• Protection of Document Writers: Addressing concerns among traditional document writers, the CM assured that the government would formulate measures to protect their livelihoods and integrate them into the updated framework.
• Countering Misinformation: Officials were tasked with conducting public awareness drives to dispel rumors regarding state asset privatization.

Directives on Scheme Subsidies and Frivolous Petitions

During the RTGS review, the Chief Minister also issued key policy directions regarding welfare disbursement and administrative efficiency. He instructed Civil Supplies and Finance department officials to fix dedicated dates for systematically disbursing subsidies under the 'Deepam-2.0' LPG scheme.

Additionally, CM Naidu called for strict monitoring of repeat 'litigant petitioners' who file excessive frivolous complaints to stall administrative progress. Identifying 81 such individuals across Andhra Pradesh who have filed hundreds of petitions, he ordered their details to be forwarded to District Collectors to distinguish genuine public interest litigation from malicious complaints. Addressing environmental challenges, he also advised agriculture officials to promote dryland crops in response to a 49 percent rainfall deficit.
