Enforcement Directorate Conducts Raids Across Bengaluru in ISIS Radicalisation Money Laundering Probe

Editorial Staff

BENGALURU: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on July 21, 2026, conducted extensive searches at eight locations in and around Bengaluru, Karnataka, as part of an ongoing money laundering probe linked to the radicalisation of youth by the banned international terrorist organization ISIS.

The central agency executed the raids under the provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act, 2002 (PMLA), targeting financial trails, funding mechanisms, and assets associated with terror recruitment modules.

Focus on Terror Financing and Youth Radicalisation Networks

The anti-money laundering investigation stems from prior law enforcement filings and National Investigation Agency (NIA) chargesheets alleging organized efforts to recruit and radicalize impressionable youth in the region:

  • Financial Links Targeted: ED officials raided premises connected to key suspects to trace banking channels, digital transactions, and hawala networks utilized for sustaining extremist operations.
  • Recruitment Framework: The underlying case involves conspiracies where radicalized modules operated study circles and specialized workshops—such as the 'Iqra Camp'—to groom local youths for terror activities.
  • Seizure of Documents: Investigative teams secured financial records, digital storage media, and property documents to establish money laundering links directly supporting banned organizations.

Multi-Agency Coordination Against Terror Networks

The ED's action underscores intensified inter-agency coordination aimed at disrupting the financial infrastructure of transnational terror groups operating in South India. Authorities confirmed that further financial analysis and questioning of key associates will follow based on evidence seized during the operations.
