HYDERABAD — The Telugu film industry is gearing up for an intense festive box-office clash as a growing lineup of major productions targets the Sankranthi 2027 release window. With multiple high-profile projects locking in their dates early, industry observers are questioning whether the holiday frame can sustain half a dozen major theatrical releases alongside expected dubbed titles.

Sankranthi remains the most lucrative release season for Tollywood, with high footfalls and extended holiday periods allowing multiple films to thrive simultaneously. However, the current volume of announcements has raised significant concerns regarding screen availability, distribution conflicts, and theatrical sustainability across the Telugu states.

The Growing Roster of Holiday Releases

Several high-profile films have already secured or signaled their intent for Sankranthi slots, setting the stage for a crowded theatrical landscape:

• January 12 Vidudala: Starring Venkatesh and Kalyan Ram, the multi-starrer project has formally locked in its holiday date.
